Thomas Tuchel: Bayern Munich want to cause Arsenal pain in Champions League tie

Thomas Tuchel has warned Arsenal that Bayern Munich “want to cause them pain” in their Champions League quarter-final first leg at the Emirates Stadium.

The Bayern boss, who managed Chelsea between 2021 and 2022, returns to London to face the Premier League leaders on Tuesday.

Tuchel’s side trail Bundesliga table-toppers Bayer Leverkusen by 16 points after Saturday’s 3-2 defeat at Heidenheim.

Despite a lacklustre league campaign, Tuchel insists his team can hurt the Gunners.

ACC eliminates divisions, adopts 3-5-5 scheduling model

The ACC has announced a new scheduling format for football with the elimination of divisions and the implementation of a 3-5-5 opponent structure.

The new system, revealed on Tuesday, will come into effect from 2023.

In the new scheduling model, all 14 ACC schools will now have three primary opponents who they will face each year. They will play each of the other 10 schools once over a two-year span – five one year and the other five the next.

In this format, every ACC team will play all conference foes at least once at home and once on the road over a four-year cycle.

This ends years of an unbalanced schedule that resulted in some ACC schools going nearly a decade without facing another conference member. For instance, Florida State and Pittsbu…

Kehrer confident of Tuchel success at Bayern

Thomas Tuchel will be a success at Bayern Munich, according to Germany international Thilo Kehrer.

Tuchel, who had been out of work since he was sacked by Chelsea in September, replaced Julian Nagelsmann on Friday.

Nagelsmann was relieved of his duties despite Bayern having reached the Champions League quarter-finals and sitting just a point off top spot in the Bundesliga.

Tuchel s first game in charge will come against Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund, who he coached between 2015 and 2017, in Saturday s Klassiker, and having worked under him at Paris Saint-Germain, Kehrer feels his former boss is the right pick for Bayern.

I had a very successful time in Paris under Thomas Tuchel, Kehrer told reporters at a pre-match news conference ahead of Germany…

Premier League predictions: Arsenal to get back on track as strugglers aim to scrape wins

Premier League leaders Arsenal will aim to get back on track when they host lowly Southampton on Friday.

The Gunners lead at the top has been cut to just four points after successive 2-2 draws against Liverpool and West Ham, throwing away two-goal leads in each of those matches.

But with Manchester City in FA Cup action, Arsenal have a great chance to move seven points clear of Pep Guardiola s side ahead of next week s huge clash between the title rivals at the Etihad Stadium.

Leicester City, Everton and Leeds United will all be hoping Arsenal do the business, with Southampton s relegation rivals all in action on Saturday.

England job ´not on my radar at all´ – Howe

Eddie Howe has no interest in succeeding Gareth Southgate as England manager, with a move into the international game not appealing at this moment in my life .

Three Lions boss Southgate has been hugely successful since his appointment in 2016, leading his team to the World Cup semi-finals, Nations League Finals and Euro 2020 final, but he heads into Qatar 2022 under pressure.

England are winless in six – their worst such sequence since 1993 and worst ever heading into a major tournament – and there have been calls for Southgate to move on.

As one of the leading English coaches in the Premier League, Newcastle United s Howe would appear an obvious candidate to replace him.

However, while praising Southgate, Howe said the England role was not one he wo…

Ghana 0-2 Uruguay: What Were The Key Talking Points As Both Ghana and Uruguay Come Crashing Out Of The World Cup?

In what was another remarkable round of World Cup fixtures on Friday, both Ghana and Uruguay saw their World Cup adventures come to a stunning end at the Al Janoub Stadium.

While the Black Stars might have been desperate to gain some revenge for their 2010 heartbreak, a Giorgian de Arrascaeta first-half brace helped the South American giants claim a 2-0 victory.

With André Ayew missing what turned out to be a crucial early penalty, it was eventually South Korea that sent both of the World Cup rivals packing after a stunning end to Group H.

With the Asian heavyweights springing a major upset as they snatched a last-gasp 2-1 victory against Portugal, Uruguay s heartbreak couldn t be hidden at the final whistle as they missed out on a knockout stage ticket by a si…

‘Business as usual’ as Chelsea look to wrap up Super League title – Emma Hayes

Chelsea boss Emma Hayes says it is “business as usual” for her side as they prepare for Saturday’s Super League finale, looking to wrap up another title.

Ahead of the season’s concluding round of fixtures, the Blues – who have won the WSL five times and for each of the last three seasons – are two points clear of second-placed Manchester United, with a goal difference better by five.

Chelsea, aiming to complete a league and FA Cup double, play bottom side Reading away, while Marc Skinner’s United are at Liverpool.

24 hours to go until either or lift the trophy!

Bayer Leverkusen vs Bayern Munich: Meet the leading contenders in this season’s Bundesliga title scrap – Preview, Players to Watch & Fixture lists

While the Bundesliga might have watched its reputation become increasingly stale over the past decade, there was certainly a stunning changing of the guard among Germany’s elite.

Watching Bayer Leverkusen embark on a sensational fairytale as they were crowned Bundesliga champions for the first time, Germany’s top-flight now have a heavyweight title scrap on their hands.

With Bayern Munich eventually forced to settle for a third-place finish last season after enduring a public domestic struggle under Thomas Tuchel, the German icons get a new era underway following the shock arrival of ex-Burnley boss Vincent Kompany.

Ahead of what looks set to be another thriller from the top of the Bundesliga table this year, we have taken a look at the two leading candidate…

Tebas wants to see Ronaldo back in LaLiga amid Atletico links

LaLiga president Javier Tebas would like to see Cristiano Ronaldo back in Spain but conceded he was unsure if it was feasible for Atletico Madrid to sign the Manchester United star.

Ronaldo is reportedly seeking a move away from United less than a year after returning from Juventus, supposedly because of a lack of Champions League football after the Red Devils sixth-place finish in the Premier League last season.

The Portugal captain, who scored 24 goals in 38 games in 2021-22, returned to United s training ground on Tuesday having missed the club s pre-season tour of Asia and Australia.

It seems suitors for his services are not as plentiful as anticipated, with Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn appearing to rule out a move, while nothing has yet come of reported in…

Kahn absolves Tuchel of any blame as Bayern relinquish top spot to Dortmund

Oliver Kahn criticised Bayern Munich s players for their display in Saturday s 3-1 loss at Mainz but absolved head coach Thomas Tuchel of any blame for their current slump.

Bayern dropped points for the second Bundesliga game running to relinquish top spot to Borussia Dortmund, who beat Eintracht Frankfurt 4-0 later in the day.

Tuchel replaced Julian Nagelsmann last month but has already overseen Bayern s exits from the Champions League and DFB-Pokal at the quarter-final stage of both.

Despite winning just two of his opening seven games in charge, Bayern CEO Kahn does not believe Tuchel deserves any criticism for results over the past month.

Thomas Tuchel is the last person we need to talk about now, Kahn told reporters. He is doing everything he can to …
